About This Quote

The story of Jason and the Argonauts is a Greek mythological tale about Jason, a Greek prince who is given the task of finding the Golden Fleece. When he locates the fleece, he must then return it to Colchis, an Aegean kingdom ruled by King Acastus. Acastus's wife Medea is a powerful sorceress, but her spells are ineffective against Jason. When she tries to seduce him with her magic, Jason turns his eyes away from her so that he will not be seduced.

She becomes enraged and turns the crew of the Argo into animals. Jason is discovered by Medea's brother, King Aeëtes of Colchis, who wants to murder him before he can return with news of his discovery. The king orders his nephews Iolaus and Telamon to kill Jason.
